Bead Soup Ready To Serve - Give Away

Finally the Bead Soup Party Day has arrived.
Yippie Ya Yeah!!!
Due to my problems with the left hand - my thumb is packed into some plaster - I am a little bit behind schedule!

But last but not least here it is: my one and only Bead Soup Necklace with those wonderful handmade ceramic beads from my dear partner Sally Russick. Sally is a jewerly maker as well and she also shoots stunning pictures with her camera. What she has made of my Bead Soup you can watch here.

This is what Lori Anderson, our hostess, writes on her own Blog about the Bead Soup Blog Party:
"The premise of the blog hop is for two people to swap beads and then make something from those beads. The requirements are to send a focal, a special clasp, and some coordinating beads. The purpose is to stretch imaginations, incorporate beads from your current stash, and, in getting someone else's beads, work with things you may never have thought to use before."

Remember, this is what I got from my partner:

And this is what I added to the Soup:

1. Some lampwork beads made by me in my homestudio

2. Some nice copper ingredients that I had found some months before and were just waiting to be used for a special design! ;0) Remember: Usually I don't do jewelry with copper. This is my very first time. I had always used sterling silver before...

First I started off by drawing some designs for the ingredients. In the end I came up with this one:

Then I added some of the pieces to the paper just to see if I liked the design that way.

Then I started with my wirework...

While I was making the necklace I kind of struggled with the way I decorated the Focal. I didn't really like what I had made. Hmmm!

So I decided to change the design a bit and I came up with this new one:

This design I liked better...

Well, after having finished all my wirework finally this is what it looks like now. You will notice that I have also changed the right part of my design... ;0)
What do you think?

But yet there was even another stash from Sally. This is what she sent me additionally:

I picked out the two copper discs and the wonderful second Focal in that lovely petrol color.

1. With the discs I made a pair of earrings.

2. With the Focal I made another necklace using my favourite silk ribbon:  Sari silk

Both designs of course completed by matching lampwork beads...  ;0)))

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention all the other participants! Ooops!
You can find them on Lori Anderson's site: Pretty Things
Thank you so much, Lori, for your great efforts and the wonderful job you have done. I love reading your Blog and being a part of it today!  :0)))

You served up a spectacular soup! I'm so impressed with the precision of sketching the design before making it. My sketches never look like that! (They're really rough.) That first necklace is stunning. The rest of your soup is totally amazing. And I particularly love, love, love the disc earrings. Spectacular. For your first time working with copper, you really outdid yourself!

moonsafari hat gesagt…

Wow, your bead soup was gorgeous and what you added just made it even more gorgeous! i love your lampwork beads. The necklaces turned out amazing, the earrings are so cool too! Your design sketch is is impressive indeed!

I'm so impressed by all the planning and thought you put into your designs. I think the pieces all turned out wonderfully. I love the colours of the earrings - the copper goes so well with the pinks and purples of the glass discs.

Sabine, Beautiful, Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL work!! I love the wire work in the first necklace, and the long length! Gorgeous! The earrings are wonderful, I never thought to use the copper blanks like that, very creative! And the last necklace and the giveaway necklace with all that texture of the ribbons are stunning. I have to tell you I love your glass beads so much! They are so beautiful!! Thanks for being such a great partner.
I hope your thumb heals quickly!

Alicia hat gesagt…

OMG, Sabine - that's something you made there! Not only the end result, but the step-by-step and that wonderful drawing... loved each stage of your creative process. I like the final embelishment of the diamond focal better (the original looked very nice on paper, but it overwhelmed a little bit the focal). I love how you perfectly matched your own lampwork to what you have received.

P.S. That bead on the key - such a cute idea!

Mariposa hat gesagt…

Schick, schick! Allein schon die Entwurfszeicnung ist ein Kunstwerk für sich :-)
Aber die Kette mit der Sariseide und dem grünen Anhänger ist mein Favorit!

Bonnie hat gesagt…

The lampwork beads you made perfectly complement your bead soup. I agree with you, I like the second treatment of the focal better. Fabulous piece!

I really enjoyed seeing the way you developed your design beginning with the sketches. Wow, that in itself was pretty wonderful. You end result was beautiful, but I have to tell you I liked the first treatment on the pendant better than the little scrolls. But the scrolls are really nice too. Great job.

AmandaMade hat gesagt…

I love the way your necklace and those earrings turned out! Your use of the wire to create a more interesting bail on the pendant was gorgeous. I love wire so the disc earrings really called to me too! Enjoy your creations!

Kat BM hat gesagt…

1st thanks for showing the sketch which I"m jealous of.. you sketch so very well ( my sketches always look like stick figures fighting each other.. but as long as I can tell what I'm doing eh?) and really great to see someone's design process laid out like that... and the end result was so much fun! I bet you will love wearing this necklace

SoulsFireDesigns hat gesagt…

Everything is lovely! I have to admit, I prefer the scrolls on the necklace too, lovely!

Cindy Cima hat gesagt…

I love the way you sketched it out and actually layed the beads on the sketch - I will have to try that myself. The results were gorgeous!
I love the earrings and the other necklace too!

OH! There is so much I have to say about this post. Let me start with, I ADORE the beads you created to correspond with the soup. They are just fabulous! As well, I really enjoyed hearing about your design process from the sketching (OMG, you've got some seriously awesome sketching skills), to laying the beads out, to the final product. And that final product is just beautiful. As well, the earrings you created are so much fun. I would totally wear those!! Anyway, I can't believe you did all this while injured. Simply amazing!

Loris Glassworks hat gesagt…

Thank you so much for sharing your design process, I really enjoyed learning how your necklace came together first on paper and then section by section. You received some wonderful beads in your soup and you used them brilliantly. I love all your designs. Cheers!

Jennifer Cameron hat gesagt…

I love every single piece. Love them to bits! My favorite thing is seeing your sketch and design process. Thanks for sharing those!

lunedreams hat gesagt…

Your beads are spectacular! Are they hollow? I feel like I'm looking through to the other side of the bead. And those colors! Such a rich olive green, like the finest virgin olive oil. I love all your pieces--I love the mix of finishes in the copper on your first necklace and the little wrapped links. Your asymmetrical design makes the most of your beads and the ceramic beads from your partner. And your sari silk necklace is simple but lush, I love it with silver. And just a hint of the copper discs peeping out from behind those lampwork discs is just right. I love copper and purples together. All so lovely!

dreaminofbeads / SAS Jewelry Designs hat gesagt…
