7th Bead Soup Blog Party - 3rd Reveal

Today is the day of the
3rd reveal for the great
Bead Soup Blog Party no. 7
- hosted by our fabulous Lori Anderson from Pretty Things who invented this event for jewelry designers from all over the world. Lori has started the BSBP some years ago to give creative people the chance to try out new things in the jewelry world. For the Blog Hop each participant has to cope with a special Bead Soup which may be outside the comfort zone a jewelry designer is usually dealing with.
In my case I was paired with the wonderful seed beader Christina Hickman - see Vintage Treasures Jewelry -  who had sent me an amazing stash of art deco brass components, matching flower beads and some more jewelry findings.
Using one focal and a special clasp was mandatory for all the jewelry designers in this challenge.

Those stunning art deco pieces I choose for a matching jewelry set.
Christina painted the focal and the brass elements herself. How lovely is that!!!

The focal

Little leave pendants, flower bead caps and the clasp

From the rest of the stash I took some of the flower and leave beads.

Then I sat down on my torch to make some coordinating lampwork beads. As the main colors on the brass components were pink and green I decided to try an art deco design in glass with these colors. Recently I saw some very lovely water lily leaves made of brass. And I found that I should try to make some lampwork leaves with water drops on them for the water lily pendant from Christina.

In order to keep the style of the art deco pieces I searched for some more matching flowers, leaves and of course more brass components. The wire work was made of brass and copper, because I think that the mixture of two different metal wires goes very well with the art deco design. In the end I blackened the wire work a little for a nice vintage look.

First of all I started to make a bracelet with that lovely focal.

I must say that I had so many ideas for the focal - but most of them I could'nt realize. The holes in the focal caused me some trouble, because they were too broad for some simple wire work. That was a tough job to do...I think I had three or four attempts until I had the sparking idea.

This is what I ended up with.

Then I took the brass bead caps and hammered them flat. I mixed them with a purple ceramic flower and included a brass bead with a butterfly design. A dragonfly would have been very nice, but I did'nt find one. ;0)
With these ingredients I made a matching necklace for my bracelet. Here I used the clasp which Christina had sent me.

Last but not least I made a pair of earrings with some more of my lampwork beads.

Here once more the three jewelry pieces all together. ;0)))

I am quite happy with the result. What do you think?

Christina, thank you so much for sending me these lovely art deco components. I have always been a big fan of art deco design and I absolutely loved the challenge of making some art deco jewelry for myself.

Now, please, have a look at what Christina has made with the Soup I had sent her.

Oldtimertreffen in München

Today in Munich there was a nice gathering of many, many yummy vintage cars. This event is being arranged once a year on our "Theresienwiese" (yes, that's the place where the well known "Oktoberfest" is taking place). In April there is the small version of our "Wies'n", a little Oktoberfest called "Frühlingsfest" (spring festival).
As our Hanomag, a military van, was built in the year 1970, we could join the festival. Usually we use our car as a travel van. We have a bed inside, a little kitchen and so on...
This year there were'nt so many military vans, but instead we found other nice beauties!

Ist dieser Chevrolet nicht klasse! Würd' ich sofort nehmen...
I fell in love with this incredible Chevy standing next to our van!

Auch als Ausguck gut zu gebrauchen...
Our car is not only good for driving...

Da schaut der Ossi - ein Käfer!
A classic car - this wonderful beetle!

Oder doch ein Wartburg aus dem Osten?
This one is called "Wartburg" from East Germany.

Jaguar

Gelb hat auch was!
In yellow - not bad at all!

Ein "Zurück in die Zukunft"-Delorean - genial!!!!
A Delorean - do you know " Back to the future"? - I love that car!

A Volkswagen - my darling is about to restoring his Volkswagen standing in the garage waiting for a new dress like that:

 Opel

Another big one..bigger than our's...

Fairy

At the moment I feel like making glass beads the organic style.
Today's bead is made of light tones, mostly of ivory glass. There is no blue this time, my favourite color. You might have noticed that most of my beads are made of blues. Well, I think, I should try more lampwork beads with other colors like this one. It's not too bad using other colors than blues, I guess...   ;0)

Dreamworks

Today I would like to show you a new design made of the wonderful silver glass "Silberbraun" from Reichenbach, a german lampworker's glass. Just dive into the bead and discover a lovely collection of different  blues and earthy tones.
As a little candy for you you will get this unique bead in my Etsy with free shipping.

Glasss Book of Lampworkers

Miriam Steger, a gifted lampworker, once had the wonderful idea of making a very special "Glasss Book of Lampworkers" which is being published once a year. With her book Miriam gives all lampworkers in the world the chance to show their amazing lampwork beads and jewelry designs, as well.
This year I decided to send her some of my lampwork pics and Miriam accepted them for her book. I was really delighted that I could join all those fabulous lampworkers from all around the world.
From tomorrow on "Book Glasss 3" will be for sale. Feel free to hop over to Miriam's site to read more about her books. Book 1 and 2 were published the last two years and are still for sale. I will not benefit from the book sales - well, except you feel like stopping by on my Etsy or DaWanda. ;0)
I just felt like telling my readers about this lovely book. It is really worth looking at all those stunning beads and very inspiring for lampworkers and jewelry designers. But it does'nt mean that you should copy every single piece in the book, of course...  ;0)

So, if you are interested in the books, just have a look at Miriam's site:  Glasss
